The Richmond Brooch stands out as one of the most iconic and historically rich pieces in the royal jewelry collection. It was given to HRH Princess Mary of Teck in 1893 as a wedding gift from the people of Richmond, a town closely tied to her family through their home at White Lodge in Richmond Park. Created by the distinguished jewelers Hunt and Roskell, the brooch features a bold circular diamond setting centered around a luminous pearl, with a removable pear-shaped pearl drop suspended beneath. Its design balances grandeur with a timeless elegance that made it a favorite among queens.

HM Queen Mary was known to be especially fond of this brooch and wore it throughout her life, including during high-profile moments such as the Devonshire House Ball in 1897. After her passing, the brooch was inherited by her granddaughter, HM Queen Elizabeth II, who continued its legacy by wearing it at both state events and more personal occasions. It became one of the late HM Queen’s most cherished jewels—seen often in her later years—and a powerful symbol of continuity within the royal family.
