Historical Information :
Empress Maria Feodorovna’s sapphire brooch is more than just a royal jewel—it is a surviving relic of two empires and a powerful link between British and Russian royalty. The brooch was gifted to the Danish-born princess when she married into the Russian imperial family in 1866. Featuring a rich blue cabochon sapphire framed by a double halo of diamonds and finished with a graceful pearl drop, the piece reflects the opulence of 19th-century imperial taste. It became one of Maria Feodorovna’s signature jewels, often seen during her return visits to Denmark, a country she never ceased to feel connected to.
Remarkably, the brooch endured through the turmoil of the Russian Revolution. The Dowager Empress managed to keep it with her in exile—one of the few treasured items she carried into her final years. After her death, her family arranged for its discreet sale in London, where HM Queen Mary added it to the British royal collection in 1930. Decades later, HM Queen Elizabeth II would inherit the brooch and bring it back into the public eye, wearing it on formal occasions and continuing its journey as a symbol of resilience, royal legacy, and quiet continuity between generations.

Why Cubic Zirconia ?
Cubic zirconia stands out with its refractive index close to that of a diamond (diamond 2.42, CZ 2.18), which gives it a striking brilliance. However, its main advantage is its higher dispersion rate than that of a diamond. This feature allows for a more intense and vivid display of "fire," which is the ability to separate light into its colors. Therefore, cubic zirconia, especially in well-lit environments, presents more colorful light refractions than a real diamond, creating a unique and luxurious effect.
