The tiara was created in 1857 and takes its name from its first owner, Duchess of Teck, Mary Adeline, the mother of Queen Mary. Queen Mary gifted the tiara to her daughter-in-law, Queen Mother. HM The Queen Elizabeth II inherited the tiara after her beloved mother's death.
